Kevin is 33!

Kevin had a birthday at the end of February! I love watching my college sweetheart maturing into such a handsome and wonderful man! I think the 30's will be a great decade for him!

Kevin's parents were in town for his birthday and treated both of us to babysitting while we went to The Melting Pot for dinner. It was a really nice evening, especially with being able to eat our food without holding kids, kids touching us and/or our food, and while it was hot.

Happy birthday, honey!

And don't forget the delicious cake I made for Kevin: Butter cake with raspberry cream cheese filling and fudge frosting. Yum!

Love these pics!

I just love funny pictures of babies covered in the food they're experiencing for the first time. Here's some of Zac and baked beans. This boy really liked what he was putting in his mouth....and all over his face!

Bowling and Pizza

A fun activity the kids and I participated in this month was going to a local bowling alley for a game of bowling and making our own pizzas. Anslie had fun, for the most part. She always gets a little overwhelmed when there's lots of people around and pressure to perform. We stayed long enough for her to bowl a couple times and put the toppings on her pizza, but after an angry three year slammed a spoonfull of pizza sauce in my face we went home to think about our actions. Hopefully we can enjoy the entire experience next time around!

Scary

"Ding, dong," went the doorbell. Over and over. I was getting really irritated. Not only does my husband usually sleep during the day, I also have a baby who naps. Really? Was it really necessary for the kid selling candy bars to ring my door bell over and over again? I didn't answer the door the first time he rang it. Why did he continue to ring it and risk waking my husband and child up? I was annoyed. Really annoyed.

Lucky for him and my husband and baby, noone was sleeping. Or playing in our backyard. And that last part is significant because the kid ringing our doorbell over and over again? He wasn't selling candy bars. He was trying to tell us that he and his buddy saw a baby rattle snake crawl into one of our drainage pipes that leads to our backyard. Bad news if little people or doggies are in the backyard when the snake surfaces.
Our neighbor helped Kevin flush the snake out of the pipe and then Kevin took a shovel to the it. Yuck. Better him than us, though.

Sundays

Sundays can be rough sometimes. Especially right now with Kevin's work schedule as it is. We have church so early in the morning and Kevin doesn't get home until about an hour before church ends, if he's lucky. So the task of getting myself and two kids ready for church in the morning is left to me. Add having to prepare a lesson to teach in Primary every other week, trying to keep the sabbath day holy, and the solitude of the rest of the day because Kevin is sleeping because he either has to work again, or he's exhausted from the previous night's shift, and you have one hectic, yet boring, day. Don't get me wrong, I love church. I'm a devout member. But Sundays are not my favorite day of the week...Except for moments like this...

Kevin was napping on the couch when Anslie crawled on top of him and started to snuggle. The weekdays can get so busy sometimes, and of course, Kevin is sleeping during the day so he's not around for Anslie to be with. So, on our quiet Sunday afternoons, after all of the craziness of church has passed, when we have nothing better to do than spend time with each other, there is always a stolen moment of tenderness to be had.

And that is my favorite part of this day of the week.
